To apply to be a member of Team Australia,  The Australian Steelers, Fill out our online form and send us a video demonstrating your skills.

Your application form asks for the following information:

  • Name, current position and workplace.

  • Experience.

  • Why you want be on the team.

  • What specific skills you can bring to the team.

We are looking for butchers who can demonstrate:

  • Exceptional boning & knife skills

  • Creativity & Innovation

  • Strong teamwork skills

  • Hygienic and safe work practices

Successful applicants will be contacted and will be invited to compete in a face to face competition on the Gold Coast in early 2019.

Please note: you must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be considered for the team.

APPRENTICES & YOUNG BUTCHERS

Apprentices & Young butchers can apply to represent Team Australia at the World Butcher Challenge, where they will compete individually against other apprentices and young butchers from around the world.


To be considered to represent Team Australia as an Apprentice or Young Butcher, please ensure you meet the following criteria:

  • Apprentices must be a signed apprentice as of 30th Sept 2019 (age is not a factor).

  • Young butchers must be no older that 31 years as of 1st Jan  2019.

  • Willing to sign a code of conduct agreement, and willing to train hard.

  • Willing to follow all rules and regulation as set down by International and national WBC council.

  • You must also hold a current passport that is valid until after the competition dates along with eligibility to apply for an ESTA visa or similar to gain entry into the United States.

You will have to undertake the following process:

  • Compete in trials held in your state.

  • Be judged as one of the top two apprentices or young butchers in that competition

  • Come to Sydney in 2019 (date to be confirmed) and compete in grand final selection.
